| Printmaking, Painting, and More... | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Lauren primarily works with relief prints such as linoleum block prints and wood engravings, and creates hand-printed letterpress books. Her other projects include digital illustrations, murals, hand-sewn blank books/journals, and the occasional painting. Her first children's book, What Do Animals Do on the Weekend?: Adventures from A to Z was published by Novello Festival Press in 2002. Her most recent book, When Muses Moved In, is an illustrated limited edition letterpress book. (To see excerpts from both, click on the links below.) Her work has recently appeared in Now and Then, Greenprints, the Saint Louis Post-Dispatch, Victoria Press and Wildacres Poetry 2002.
Lauren is currently visiting schools and libraries, reading from her children's book and giving students the inside scoop on writing and printmaking. The original prints from "What Do Animals Do on the Weekend?" are traveling to galleries in western North Carolina through early 2005. For a complete list of upcoming appearances, readings, and openings, click here. For information regarding freelance projects, commissions, print sales, and school visits or workshops, contact Lauren by phone or email below. For a preview of alphabet adventures, and for information regarding book orders, click on the book jacket. And don't even think of bolting without taking a quick tour of the site--leaving here without seeing the crocodiles cha-cha is like leaving the restaurant without your fortune cookie. |
